Module 3-1:  Making Sense – Life as a Developmental Journey

The Self in Search for Meaning – Cult, Religion and Spirituality

Spirituality is part of the ‘here and now’, not otherworldly, pre-birth or after life. Images taken from world myths and fairy tales – including contemporary movies – suggest that the development of our ‘silent self’ is nourished by a ‘water of life‘ which can be found as a hidden fountain within the ‘ordinary world’. Exploring our biographies we trace life-giving, life-supporting and life-changing influences, and learn how to call on them more consciously. – We also reflect and share about meaningful texts and practices from the variety of backgrounds represented between us. This includes poetry, verses, meditations, prayers and guidelines for inner work or dynamic meditations. Hopefully we will share a rich variety from many different backgrounds and indications for very different purposes — from Anthroposophy via Dervish Dances to Zen Meditation. After the workshop we might return with heads, hearts and hands full of ‘spiritual gems’ collected and shared between us.

Module 3-2:  Diagnostics – Mental Health and Illness

Life Story Work in Learning, Coaching and Therapeutic Settings

This workshop helps us to better recognise when someone may be facing a mental health crisis and needs accompanying or help to find appropriate treatment.  Through workshop presentations and by exploring own life experiences as illustrations, we aim to cultivate an empathetic under-standing of ‘mental crisis or illness’ in order to better accompany individuals carrying such phenomena as part of their biography.  We learn main indicators for metal crisis to be aware of in coaching and consultation situations.  We discuss what defines Mental Illness, taking into account Carolin Myss’ message of a possibly healthy ‘Spiritual Madness‘, indicating a spiritual experience or a chaotic transition phase as a possible part of inner development.  Our aim is not treatment, which is beyond the scope of Life Story Work, but to recognize signals possibly indicating mental health issues.

Workshop fee: $380 inc. $77 non-refundable enrolment fee inc. GST.

Module 3-3: Tools – Phenomenology and Processes

Life Processes – Learning Processes – Developmental Processes

This module focusses on Processes and Phenomenology as a theme. Whenever we meet with a client, run a workshop, facilitate an exercise, prepare for a professional or family event, we explore phenomena and create processes in time. Trainers and educators discovered that, for example some exercise processes work somehow “naturally” and the respective exercises are used for a long time. Other exercises don’t really jell and will be dropped even if they were very thought trough and designed to serve a specific purpose. A Dutch organisation with roots in Spiritual Science / Anthroposophy – the NPI, Nederlands Pedagogic Institute – started to research what constitutes a “good process” or a “good exercise” and discovered that good processes or exercises are related to an Archetype or a Being. In the 1970ties Coenraad van Houten, a senior consultant at the NPI, discovered that Education and Transformation Processes work best, if they are based on a seven step process. He researched and made the link between Seven Life Processes in the Etheric-Life Body of the human being and the Seven Learning Process-es. Seven Step Learning Processes are in coherence with the Archetype of the Seven Life Processes and that constitutes their success. Of cause there are also other Archetypes behind “Three Step” or “Three Level” processes, or four or nine or twelve.
The module provides tools proven to be useful for teachers, trainers and consultants if they endeavour to design processes. Knowledge about processes also helps to read and understand biographical and developmental patterns.
